After bouncing around the music industry for a bit, I've spent the past five years working on weddings and events for guest counts from six to sixteen hundred (and more) in venues like Brooklyn Museum, New York Public Library, and enormous backyard tents. My experience building events from scratch led me to start Davis Row, and carve out a little more space for people of color in the wedding industry. Davis Row leads with hospitality: we consider guest experience at every turn and have a whole lot of fun while we're at it. We want to meet you, your partner, your parents, and your dog.
How does Davis Row approach weddings?
The Davis Row experience is guided by a process with built-in milestones. We'll get to know each other, put together your creative team of vendors, present a cohesive plan and design for the day, and get to work fielding the barrage of emails and phone calls to make it all happen. Transparency and visibility are major — you can always find out what's going on or get a pro opinion. Our clients don't Google for answers to wedding questions. We're their Google. Our clients aren't buried under email avalanches from vendor partners on their creative team. We keep the team informed and happy. Our clients get animated GIFs, carefully-negotiated contracts, and surprise gifts. And the peace of mind that comes with knowing a professional team has their wedding under control.
What are some traits of your ideal clients?
Davis Row clients are excited by the idea of treating those that they love to a great time. They're thoughtful and considerate of the people around them, they prioritize respect and kindness, and they probably have strong opinions about food, drinks, and/or music. They're a little fancy and appreciate sophistication, but they know how to let loose and get a little weird, too. They don't always see themselves or their loved ones represented in wedding media, and might be a tiny bit frustrated while trying to maintain excitement about diving into this weird and wonderful world. We get it! We're here to help.
What are three of your favorite things?
Spreadsheets, crying during ceremonies, and carbohydrates.
What Past Clients Have To Say:
"We were having trouble thinking about our wedding day as a whole. The little pieces we could do, but bringing it all together and making it fun for the guests was tough. Our wedding was challenging in that it was two different cultures coming together, and Allison helped us navigate that. She saved us by making it all make sense.
Originally, we thought that planners all have very strong opinions and force you to make certain choices. But Allison was so flexible in making it about us. She took our ideas and executed them more beautifully than we could have imaged. People keep telling us to this day, six months later, that our wedding was the best wedding they've ever been to, and that it was beautiful and sophisticated but still felt effortless and fun. The feedback from everyone has been unanimously positive. Jeff's dad, who is usually pretty quiet, even approached us during the reception and said 'you throw a hell of a party!'
Allison made us feel like we were the only people in the world that matter and like our wedding was her only priority. She made time for us no matter what. We were so happy to have her be a part of our wedding, because we were able to relax and be fully present in the moment knowing that she had everything under control. When we walked into our reception, our minds were blown by how beautiful everything was. She got exactly what we were going for in ways that we hadn't even been able to articulate ourselves.
We had a wonderful, fun, and stress-free time at our wedding because we could trust Allison and her team to make the event amazing! Allison, you're fabulous and everyone should hire you! Thank you!"
