Real Couples // Anniversary in Lisbon, Portugal: Jay + James
/Jay: In 2008, I was moving to New York City from New Jersey and wanted to make new friends, so I decided to look through MySpace and came across James’ profile. We decided to meet up for our first date in NYC, and from the moment we met the sparks were flying, and the chemistry was undeniable. One year in, and we moved in together, and since then we have been inseparable. We have experienced so many great adventures together including getting married in 2012. Once married, we wanted to do something completely selfish and unexpected before we start our own family, and we decided to move to Portugal and see the world.
I am a first generation Portuguese-American, so Lisboa, the charming capital of Portugal was the obvious choice. James was already immersed in Portuguese culture through my family, and it was always his dream to live in Europe and learn another language. We have experienced so much together the past two years living in Lisboa; we have traveled throughout Europe and Asia, enjoying every moment and growing as a couple. When Priscilla wanted to visit we knew that having her photograph our love and appreciation for Lisboa was necessary. We were also celebrating our fourth wedding anniversary, so naturally we also wanted her to capture our love for each other. We have grown so much while being here and these pictures will be the perfect reminder of a time in our lives that we will cherish forever and never forget.
