Real Couples // A Pre-Wedding Photoshoot in Hong Kong: Brad + Jordan
/Jordan and Brad, who have been together for twenty years, came to Hong Kong earlier this year for an anniversary/pre-wedding shoot before they went back to the States. Brad had been working in China for a couple of years, and Jordan lives in the U.S., so they didn't get to see each other as much as they’d like. However, Brad’s work is ending in China, so they decided to come back via Hong Kong for one last hurrah.
For our shoot, we headed out onto the streets of Hong Kong to get a perspective of this mad 24-hour-always-on-the-move city. We started by the Buddhist temple in the center of Hong Kong and then got some shots of them on the surrounding streets. This area of Hong Kong, known as Sheung Wan, still has a lot of the old colonial buildings, and the colors and textures add great depth to the photos. In fact, the blue in the shot by the red wall is a baby blue Lamborghini parked in front of us!
We then hopped on the tram, which took us to the wet market area of Causeway Bay. It's very busy here with lots of hustle and bustle and really sums up life in this city. We then took the Star Ferry over the water to the Kowloon mainland and finished with some shots of the iconic skyline.
Jordan says, “When I browse through these photos, the ones that most interest me are the ones that capture life in China, with us sometimes secondary to the photograph. I’m not really looking for settings in Victorian lobbies, or gardens; I’d prefer settings that are crowded, chaotic, tight, messy, big, and foreign."
I hope that I captured something unique and memorable for Jordan and Brad before they move onto the next chapter of their lives.
