Real Couples // Multicultural Ballroom Wedding in North Carolina: Liz + Pedro
/I'm Liz. I'm a Geek squad manager, and love Star Wars. I'm laid back, funny, and the life of the party! Pedro is fun, outgoing, and also the life of the party!
We both work at Best Buy. I was fairly new to the store, and he had just transferred from Ohio. We instantly became friends and grew that friendship for almost two years before we decided to start dating. We got engaged when I surprised him with a birthday weekend with all his best friends from Ohio. He made a proposal video, and played it at his birthday party, and we celebrated the next two days with all of our closet friends.
Our venue was modern, new, and beautiful. We picked it before it even had dry wall up! The most fun was the cake and the florist. Both vendors were creative and artistic when designing what they were going to do.
On our wedding day, my necklace from my parents was new. I wrapped my mother's ring on the bouquet and wore a blue garter. I walked down the aisle to Canon in D. I've always wanted to since I was a little girl and spent close to a month finding the perfect version of this song. Our officiant was a close family friend. We had a fairly non-religious ceremony and wrote our own vows. Our DJ was great. My first dance with Dad was to "Butterfly Kisses," and he passed me off to Pedro at the end. Pedro and his mom skipped the dance, and did karaoke to "Regulate" by Warren G!
We served Southern homemade food because we both love home cooking! Nana's Soul Food Kitchen catered, and meatloaf was the main star of the meal.
Our decor was sprinkled with Star Wars references throughout the wedding as a surprise for my husband. We were also introduced at the reception to the Star Wars theme song and left under a light saber tunnel!
