A Vintage Wedding Editorial at the Art Factory in Paterson, NJ with George and Matt
/To showcase their services in the wedding industry, Heather Boswick of Boswick Photography and the Art Factory of Paterson, NJ, partnered with several vendors for a vintage wedding editorial, featuring real-life partners George Matthew & Matt Powell.
Heather Boswick of Boswick Photography in Marlton, NJ, gathered together a team of wedding professionals to showcase their skills. The resulting shoot brought the Art Deco glamor of the Gatsby era to modern day.
But before this team of vendors could show off their wedding know-how, they were lacking an essential part: the couple. Enter George Matthew and Matt Powell, a real-life couple based in Manhattan. George Matthew is a model and founding designer of 1931, a vintage accessories line, and Matt Powell is an editor and freelance food photographer. They met in the summer of 2017 over a glass of wine, and their penchant for vintage style quickly brought them together. Heather, immediately drawn to their aesthetic, found the couple via Instagram. Their style became the inspiration for the shoot.
Shot on the grounds of The Art Factory in Paterson, New Jersey—a newly reclaimed, 40,000 square-foot venue space that was previously a textile manufacturing plant—the vendors drew their vision from the surroundings. Filled with vintage furnishings, exposed Edison bulbs, weathered brick, wild garden spaces, and even antique trolley cars, the venue just opened in May 2018 in time for wedding season. The team gathered two days after the couple's 1-year anniversary.
For the decorative elements, Linda's Florist of Short Hills, IC Lettering & Design, and The Vintage Table Company outfitted multiple rooms of the venue. Bring on the champagne tower of antique glasses! Petal Dust Cakery supplied glittering macarons and a magnificent 6-tiered wedding cake (nearly as tall as our grooms), frosted in a masculine color scheme and gilded in icing reminiscent of Erté, with beads cascading down the sides. All the little details necessary for a wedding were the work of Knot Forgotten Details wedding planner Patty.
As Schoenfilms captured the couple dancing to a vintage gramophone, Matt couldn't help but gleefully remark, "It really feels like we're getting married today! All we need is the officiant." Of course, the couple doesn't plan on that until the fall of 2020... when the roaring 20's are officially back.

My name is Heather Boswick. My biggest passion of my career is to capture real couples, & to capture their unique love stories & themselves being, well, themselves! No stuffy, fake or awkward posing. Being a photographer is not just a job to me—it’s about meeting amazing couples & making connections. When I am not day dreaming about beautiful weddings, I can be found traveling across the country visiting many states. Besides my passion for my wedding photography, traveling & exploring, I can be found cuddling at home with my amazing husband Tyler, our two adorable cats, & our prickly pet hedgehog in our home in lovely Southern New Jersey! I am lover of a good cup of coffee, enjoying time with friends & a good movie!
