Hiring a Wedding Planner? Here's What You Need to Know

Couples don’t hire a wedding planner because planners have some kind of superhuman ability to make a timeline. People hire a wedding planner because they prefer to spend their money rather than their time. Make the most of both by feeling confident in your vendor selection with these simple guidelines.

10 Outfits That Prove Western Brides Don't Need White Wedding Dresses

10 Outfits That Prove Western Brides Don't Need White Wedding Dresses

Okay, I'll be the first to admit that I wore white on my wedding day. It was a pretty awesome dress, but I chose it knowing full well that the idea of wearing white on your wedding day is not some tradition as old as time, just as old as the Victorian Era. Ask A Wedding Photographer // Props, and Why You Don't Need Them

We're about to get into a discussion about engagement photography, but first I’d like to get something out of the way. I don’t necessarily have anything against props, I just don’t think you need them to come away with images you will love. And I’m going to tell you why. And I’m also going to tell you that this is purely my opinion.

This post isn’t meant to diss people who are really into props and styling and have a whole story planned out in their head. This post is for people who think they’re supposed to have props because that’s what other people are doing and could use a little reassurance that they are not missing out.

Real Couples // Llamas and Piñatas in the Woods: Amy + Adam

Amy and Adam had one of the most fun wedding days I've ever been a part of! They held their ceremony and reception in a Redwood tree grove in Redwood Regional Park. They incorporated wooden ducks into their ceremony decor as a nod to their Korean heritage, but opted for vintage wooden duck decoys instead of the traditional version to match Adam's love for antiques. From the food and cake to the decorations and favors, their friends and family were essential to making their day go off without a hitch. Ukulenny provided music for the ceremony and entertainment during the reception. He even went table to table during lunch taking requests and encouraging guests to sing along!

Real Couples // Bridal Overalls & City Hall: Nora + Ben

Real Couples // Bridal Overalls & City Hall: Nora + Ben

Nora and Ben were married at San Francisco City Hall surrounded by their families and a good friend. I loved that they weren't afraid to do things a little differently. Nora wore the white, embroidered overalls her mother was married in paired with a lacy, backless top and gold shoes. For their flowers, which were made by a friend, Handsome Flowers, Nora asked for a bouquet that looked like it could have been foraged in the forest. Ben's only request: mushrooms. Which resulted in one of the coolest boutonnieres I've seen!
