Keeping It Real With Herbal Heart Apothecary

Meet Sarahkate, the creative mind behind Herbal Heart Apothecary (H2a) AND a lovely friend. We asked her what's going on with H2a, and she said, "The gardens are booming! We just harvested a ton of herbs today, so that's progress. I am currently working on sample products and getting our latest product on the market at H2a. We gutted and re-did the detached garage and turned it into a real manufacturing space. Other than that, planning to travel to meet my suppliers for olive oil, imported herbs, and so on." Keeping It Real with Shawnee Custalow of A Lovely Photo

Happy Wednesday, y'all! Today we want to introduce our amazing sponsor, Shawnee Custalow of A Lovely Photo! She has been a strong supporter of Catalyst since the beginning. She also attended {un}convention Brooklyn, helped us to organize the Out of the Box Challenge, and has photographed some of our favorite #PhotoFriday posts to date (like this one and this one).

Thankful Registry: Root Gift Giving in Gratitude

Thankful Registry: Root Gift Giving in Gratitude

In my 20s, I found myself buying wedding gifts on registries for friends who were getting married. Those experiences were so impersonal and transactional I started to wonder if I could build something better. Before Thankful, I was a copywriter at design agencies working on big corporate websites and also small, fun brands with lots of personality. So I started with the tone I wanted the site to have. Since gift giving is so emotional, I knew the brand would be more about the relationships between people, and less about "stuff." That's what set us apart from the way retailers were doing registries.

Business We Believe In: Oriana Koren Weddings

As an artist, I’ve made it my duty to reflect the way we celebrate marriage today. I am most interested in the ways in which we subvert, disrupt, and ultimately, reclaim what marriage can be for each and every one of us. I am lucky to be able to document vanguards who are celebrating community and inclusion as primary to what it is to be in love and to marry in these times.

My name is Kate. I was born near the white mountains of New Hampshire, grew up in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia, had a few-year stint in Brooklyn, and have settled for the time being in Richmond, VA. My most recent blissful moment was standing atop a glacier lagoon in Iceland with my medium format film camera. My happiest place is around a table with wine, home-cooked food, friends and family in abundance.

Catalyst Takes New York // Anna Thompson Design

One of the many fantastic people we met with in New York was the graphic designer for Catalyst Wedding Magazine, Anna of Anna Thompson Design. We met her, along with her two sisters, at The East Pole on the Upper East Side for dinner. After chatting about sibling dynamics, we got down to business.  Anna will be adding her own flare to the magazine's clean layout, quirkifying some of the pieces with custom graphics.
