Real Couples // A Castle Wedding in South Wales: Jodie + Hasan
/Jodie and Hasan were married at a relaxed nautical themed wedding at Norman Manorbier Castle in South Wales. The couple first met while playing in St John's Deaf football club. Jodie played for the women’s team and Hasan for the men’s. "It was on a football trip in 2004 to Stuttgart in Germany that we really noticed each other properly," said Jodie. "But nothing came of it 'til Hasan's house party after Christmas in 2007 when romance began to blossom."
Jodie grew up in Tenby, South Wales, and though she moved to London as an adult, it was always her wish to get married at “home." Hasan proposed while on a visit to her family there, and so it felt very special and her dream choice to return to Wales for their wedding.
"Pembrokeshire is a beautiful county with it’s unspoilt, natural landscape. I had seen Manorbier Castle when I was a little girl and I remember I loved it and dreamt of getting married there. I never imagined it would actually happen!" Having been raised in an area where everyone knew each other, Jodie felt a real sense of community involvement in the wedding planning. Their catering chef was a family friend, her sister created all the floral accessories, and her sister’s friend Cherie Davis from Utopia Salon styled her hair. Invitations were designed by amazing deaf illustrator and calligrapher Katrina Sophia.
Guests were taken on a boat trip while Jodie and Hasan had their couple shoot with Becky for half an hour. The beach and rugged cliffs are absolutely stunning and were a perfect background for the photos.
